Grigio Carnico is a prestigious Italian marble extracted from quarries located in the heart of the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, within the Carnic Alps, in the province of Udine. This mining area has been continuously active since the 1960s and is still in operation today.
Petrographically, Grigio Carnico marble is a Biospar-Micrite, a very fine-grained cryptocrystalline limestone rock with crystals less than 5 microns in diameter, containing biological and fossil materials, often residues of marine organisms.

The deep dark grey surface is crossed by marked white and light grey veins, which intertwine to create a striking visual effect.

Is Grigio Carnico a porous marble that stains easily?
Grigio Carnico can be stained like any marble, if not properly protected and maintained. However, thanks to its good compactness, it is not among the most critical marbles in terms of porosity. With a protective treatment and constant care it is a very good and durable material.
